Looking to elope on the East Coast? We’ve compiled a list of epic adventure elopement locations from all around the East Coast of the United States. When many people think of an epic elopement they right away imagine somewhere other than the East Coast right? Truthfully my mind goes to California, Arizona or somewhere in the Pacific North West. However, don’t underestimate the gorgeous backdrops that the East Coast has to offer for elopements. Here is a list of incredible places to elope on the East Coast.
Acadia National Park in Maine is massive, so there are lots of places to have your ceremony and take some epic photos. We always recommend planning ahead of time for the specific locations you want to see. There is a variety of backdrops, but the most popular locations in Acadia National Park to get married at are: Sand Beach, Cadillac Mountain, Otter Cliffs, Thunder Hole, Jordan Pond, and Great Head Trail
Located in New Hampshire, the scenery of the White Mountain National Forest varies from incredible forests to alpine mountain peaks. There are so many spots to have an intimate elopement ceremony with a view. Here are just a few favorites: Franconia Notch, Arethusa Falls, Mount Monadnock, Echo Lake, and Cathedral Ledge
If you’re looking for a combination of rugged rocks with the romantic feel of the beach, Rhode Island might be perfect for your elopement. Specifically, Brenton Point State Park is a beautiful ocean side park, with stunning views. There are also plenty of place where you can pull off and beaches all the way through the park.
A Blue Ridge Parkway experience is unlike any other: a slow-paced and relaxing drive revealing stunning long-range vistas and close-up views of the rugged mountains and gorgeous landscapes of the Appalachian Highlands. Some of the best trails are: Black Balsam Knob, Linville Falls, Chestoa View Overlook, Max Patch, Rough Ridge, Beacon Heights, Table Rock and The Chimneys, and Hawksbill Mountain
Aquinnah, now known as Gay Head is a town located on the western-end of Martha’s Vineyard island, Massachusetts. Imagine your intimate elopement ceremony taking place in front of these beautiful clay cliffs amidst the natural serenity. It’s a beautiful site, especially during sunset. A must if you are in Martha’s Vineyard. It’s an easy walk too!
Minnewaska State Park Preserve in New York makes for a gorgeous location for and adventurous elopement. During the fall season you’d be completely surrounded by vibrant fall colors. Not only are there overlooks and views, but you also have access to waterfalls, which would make for another gorgeous backdrop.
Talk about a unique and moody backdrop. Driftwood Beach and its iconic driftwood formed as a result of decades of erosion. What was once a maritime forest is now a sandy shore lined with weathered tree trunks and branches, creating a sight that’s truly unique to the Golden Isles. Located on the north end of Jekyll Island, Driftwood beach will amaze you with the beautiful driftwood and trees that resemble a scene from another world.
Rocks State Park in Maryland is the perfect spot for an adventure elopement ceremony. It features 855 acres of rocky forest land nestled in rural northern Harford County. Rocks State Park contains dense forest, natural rock formations including the iconic “King and Queen Seat”, Kilgore Falls, and Deer Creek. You’ll find much to enjoy here, including hiking, fishing, swimming, and canoeing.
Camel’s Hump is one of Vermont’s highest mountain peaks and easily the most recognizable by its double-humped profile. Views are spectacular, but the trails on this hike can be rate as more moderate to difficult.
Shenandoah National Park is a land full of cascading waterfalls, epic vistas, fields of wildflowers, and quiet wooded hollows. There are so many beautiful locations in this park to exchange your vows including Stony Man, Big Meadows, Hawksbill Mountain, Mary’s Rock and Dark Hollow Falls. All of these locations are beautiful places to elope and spend time in nature.
