This pandemic has brought a new meaning to wedding days for us and for a lot of couples. In 2020 we photographed and filmed more elopements than we ever have before… and we are not complaining about it one bit. There is just something that is so much more impactful and meaningful about elopements. It’s just about the couple, the scenery and celebrating their love in a simple, meaningful and intimate way.
Katie and Joe approached us to photograph their elopement at Hawk Falls in Hickory Run State Park, Pennsylvania. Of course we love any opportunity to shoot an adventure elopement! I got to know a bit more about Katie and Joe’s story and why they decided to elope. They had shared with me that the most important thing to them was to just be married and finally make things official. The focus was solely on them. So, Katie got her hiking boots and they hiked with me and officiant, Julie (Storied Celebrations) and exchanged vows in front of the waterfall. It was a beautiful ceremony filled with real laughter and tears.
These are the moments that make my job so rewarding. We get to be a part of capturing such a personal moment in a couple’s journey. It truly is an honor. So excited for more elopements and intimate weddings like this one. There is just something extra special about them.
